1. Show Offline Or Appear Online to Only Selected Friends
Facebook is one of the popular social networking site and a wonderful platform to chat with friends or relatives but sometimes it becomes a headache when you get more people to chat with you at the same time when you are doing something important over the internet or when you can' t talk simultaneously to many. However this simple trick will save you this headache.
> login to your facebook account. In the chat side bar at the bottom you can see an option button click on it and click on advanced settings.
> A box will appear where you have three options if you want to turn off chat ( don't want to talk to anyone) select third radiobox: Turn Off Chat or if you'll need to appear only to selected persons select first or second option accordingly.
2. Hide Your Likes On Facebook
The next time you land on a fb post that looks interesting to you but could be weird in front of friends or if you have your family members on facebook and can't like a page with vulgar posts / ultrapersonal stuff ( you know it) you'll not need to worry. Turn off likes for specific categories on facebook.
> Log in to your facebook account > Go to your timeline > more > likes
> On the likes page click on manage button ( button with a little pencil on it) and select edit privacy
> A box will appear with a no. of categories others, inspirational people, sports, athletes etc select the ones whose likes you want to make private and select only me or anything you like.

> Log in to your facebook account. Go to your timeline then friends tab and click on manage button ( button with a little pencil on it) and select edit privacy.
