Install KDE on Ubuntu 14.04 without any commands


Ubuntu 14.04 is one the most famous and widely used Debian family Linux Distribution. Since the first release , Ubuntu Linux has been powering millions of PCs around the world. Ubuntu is a widely popular open-source Linux distribution with nine years of maturity under its belt, and more than 20 million users. Of the roughly 5 percent of desktop OSs accounted for by Linux, at least one survey suggests that about half are Ubuntu. There are a lot of Desktop environments developed for Ubuntu available on the internet to download and install.
Some of the most popular desktop environments for ubuntu are : 

Unity (installed by Default)
Unity is the default shell for GNOME 3 used by Ubuntu. This is desktop environment you see when you first install ubuntu.Unity 3D, like GNOME Shell, requires a 3D graphics card and hardware acceleration to run.If you cannot run Unity 3D, your machine should still be able to run the 2D version of Unity. 

Xfce
Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. It aims to be fast and low on system resources, while still being visually appealing and user friendly. It comes with various additional apps and panel plug-ins which greatly enhance the functionality of the DE.Ubuntu has an XFCE spin called Xubuntu (pictured above). It is recommended to install it using the official image (.iso) 

LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment)
LXDE is an extremely light desktop environment that focuses on high performance and low resource usage. It is currently the default desktop environment used by Lubuntu (pictured).
It needs less CPU and performs extremely well with reasonable memory. t runs well even on older computers produced in 1999, and it does not require 3D acceleration.

KDE 
KDE is probably the second most well-known DE available after GNOME.It is very customizable, KDE looks and feel can be easily modified. The range of options is just incredible.KDE is no lightweight system. It has similar requirements to Unity 3D but there is a "low-fat" setting for older systems.

In this article i'll be discussing how to install the KDE Desktop Environment on Ubuntu 14.04 without using any commands :

How to Install KDE on Ubuntu 14.04 without any of the commands :

1. Install the Synaptic Packet Manager : Open the Ubuntu Software Centre either by the left icon on the Ubuntu Unity toolbar or by searching and type in the search box at the top right center "synaptic packet manager". Once found select it and click on the install button.


2. After Installing is complete open the synaptic packet manager it'll ask for root password enter the password and enter the synaptic packet manager. Then on the left hand side  search for the "Kde desktop environment (universe)", once found double click on it to make the dialog on the right side to update.



3. On the right side window search for "kde-full", once found right click on it and click "mark for installation". 


4. Click Apply button on the top toolbar and apply button in the summary dialog box that appears.


5. Wait untill the complete software package gets installed then restart the Ubuntu to let the changes take place.

After following the above steps clearly the KDE desktop environment will be installed. As seen here it has the following look and feel.
